Hire Me, RMIT
I'm Kim, and I'd love to be the new Communications Officer for RMIT Link Arts & Culture.
Dear RMIT Link Arts,
I am the jelly to your peanut butter.
We are fantastic on our own, but brought together we can make magic happen.

You are looking for an experienced and professional individual to join your team in this role through to January 2014. When I came across the job ad, my eyes widened and I held my breath for 10 seconds (I am better at marketing than holding my breath). I thought, this is me. I thought, this is the perfect fit for me. But am I to submit a cover letter and resume to your automated application server and leave my chance up to a computer? I just can't.

So here is my open letter to you, RMIT Link Arts. You provide awesome free offerings to RMIT students - arts events, funding and grants, dance classes and movie nights - but your social media engagement is somewhat lacking. Students rarely participate in conversations, and your fans and followers are mostly passive. Don't you wish to change that? Well, peanut butter, let me help you with developing and implementing marketing strategies that foster meaningful relationships, rather than just content.

RMIT Link Arts, hello, my name is Kim. I live for coffee, green tea ice cream, good books, stimulating conversations, and all things marketing. I can draw a bunny in ten seconds and I really want this job.

Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but here is my website (just for you), so hire me maybe?
To know more about me and what I can do for you, feel free to browse this website, and give me a chance to come in and talk to you in person. I'll be holding my breath at kim.huynh0101@gmail.com.
I am the right candidate.
I have the ability and cultural sensitivity to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of audience: corporate executives, uni staff, students, and NGOs. I have delivered highly professional presentations and promotional speeches to up to 600 people, and even won a presentation challenge with KPMG (and was invited as a guest speaker for effective presentation skills).
I have experience developing and executing direct marketing, promotional, and digital strategies (social media, web design, e-mail, SEO). I can develop marketing plans from the ground up, and create the messaging & branding necessary to capture attention and foster engagement.
I have always been active in volunteering for and initiating community initiatives, especially for helping underprivileged children. Experienced in promoting of student-focused activities (recreational, educational, sporting, cultural..). I understand the unique challenges of working with students and volunteers.
I am all about continuously improving and adapting. I quickly pick up new skills, am curious and responsive. This keeps me flexible in responding to emerging opportunities and challenges. I figured out how to set up a HTML website (this one) using a new platform (Wix) in 24 hours. Imagine what I can do for you in a year.
Creative strategies (that work) make me tick. I live and breathe marketing - the profession that marries art to commerce, ideas to results, and creativity to ROI. I love books, arts and crafts, so in elementary school I synthesised and sold "newspapers" to classmates; in secondary and high school I sold hand-made crafts, leased comic books, and organised the most profitable stall at school's book fair.
